Mary Ward Black, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who enjoys providing psychotherapy and psychodiagnostic assessment services to adolescents and adults. She uses a diverse range of evidence-based techniques that integrate cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and client-centered theories. In her practice, Dr. Black emphasizes mindfulness, communication skills, and insight into personal values and meaning. She compassionately collaborates with each individual client, tailoring her therapeutic approach to highlight their personal strengths and values.

Dr. Black obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Mississippi State University. She completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Mississippi State Hospital that included therapy and assessment rotations on units for substance abuse, children and adolescents, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. She completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Mississippi, where she provided individual and group therapy to students and employees for a diverse array of issues, while also specializing in crisis response and conducting individual and group therapy for survivors of sexual assault. Outside of her professional work, she can be found fly fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing, hiking, or with her family and dogs.
